Outdoor Climbing in Symonds Yat

A good climb during the second trip

We have done outdoor climbing in Symonds Yat two times this month already. First trip was about two weeks ago and just to make sure everyone was on the same level, we went through all the knots and stuff we need for a safe climb.

Our instructors from Edgbaston Reservoir set up 3 routes for practicing, which were quite easy. After everyone had done all the routes, they set up another one, which was higher and more technical, but more fun. The last thing we did before going home was 40 meter abseil. Although I'm scared of heights I didn't feel that terrified this time. Probably because we have done it quite a few times in Lake District already.

The second trip was just yesterday (Friday). The weather forecast promised to be very cold and rainy and it didn't let us down. We split into two groups, half did rigging and other half climbing. I was lucky to be in the second one and managed to have 2 dry climbs. After that it started pouring down and it was just horrible and freezing. This time we set up 4 routes - one easy, medium and two challenging routes. Once the heavy rains came in, it was very difficult to keep a hold and we just ended up falling and slipping off all the time. Although the climbing condition were quite hard, it was still a good practice

This one was quite dry and fun
The rock loves me
